Local Yoga Studio Holds Second Fundraiser On Behalf of the Foundation

The Barbara McDowell Foundation thanks the Bikram Yoga Alliance, a yoga studio with locations in Alexandria and Falls Church, VA, for holding a fundraising event on behalf of the Foundation. 

On Tuesday, May 25, 2021, to create awareness of social injustice, the studio cancelled their regularly scheduled yoga classes at both locations, and in their place, held special Silent Classes. These classes were not included in the studio’s regular membership-structure. Rather, the studio asked that students reserve a spot in the classes by donating in the amount of $10, $30, $60, or $100, towards social justice. Bikram Yoga Alliance donated all proceeds from their “Day of Silence” to the Barbara McDowell Foundation. They also gave their yoga students the option to donate directly to the Foundation through the Donate page of its website. 

The Foundation is pleased to report that Bikram Yoga Alliance raised close to $1,000 to support the Foundation's mission of achieving social justice through legal action! 

This is the second fundraiser the studio has held on behalf of the Foundation since 2021.
