Amidst the current political climate, where tragedy and injustice seem to abound, it can be easy to get discouraged. To think that not one action of yours could possibly have any effect on the children scattered along the southwest border, the frightening, careless way the media is disparaged, or our freedom of speech is threatened, is, however, an unproductive thought pattern.
In the same way that no one person can destroy that which makes this country great, it will take a collection of many people to surmount the rising tide of injustice. In distributing our annual grants to social justice organizations across the country, the McDowell Foundation hopes to be but a small part of the overall mission to guarantee the basic civil liberties to all persons.
This is my second year facilitating the grant cycle at the McDowell Foundation–my second year of distributing mass solicitation emails, designing graphics to publicize that all important due date (August 1), and persuading organizations to apply for grants from the Foundation to advance a piece of urgent legislation to make this world a better place. So, please apply to be part of this process.
If you have any questions about how to apply, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
